four free agents Chelsea should sign who could blow the Premier League away next summer

After winning the Champions League last season, Chelsea can now attract the sort of players that other teams can’t. If they can win the Premier League next season, which is what Thomas Tuchel will secretly be hoping for his team, they will be one of the most attractive teams in Europe in 2022. With that in mind, Express Sport has taken a look at some free agents the Blues could sign next summer, as Tuchel looks to put his own stamp on the team.

Edouard Mendy has come in and done a decent job since he signed from Rennes - but is he a world-class goalkeeper?

One player who has the potential to be is Onana. The Ajax goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

If he doesn’t move to north London and the Dutch side fails to tie him down to a new deal, Chelsea could swoop in and get him for absolutely nothing next year.

 Niklas Sule

Sule is reportedly a target for Chelsea this summer but, if they can’t agree a deal for the German this summer, maybe they can get him when his contract expires next year.

The German could join his compatriot Tuchel in west London, and he’d fit into the Blues’ back three with ease. Big and stocky, you wouldn’t expect Sule to be mobile enough to play on the right or left side of a three-man defence.

Leon Goretzka

Another German that could team up with Tuchel is Goretzka.

The midfielder has been linked with Manchester United this summer, but the Red Devils have suspicions that this is to earn himself a new deal at Bayern Munich.

If that isn’t the case and he leaves the Bundesliga champions next year, the centre-midfielder could make a great addition alongside or instead of Kante in the centre of the park.

However, having become one of Bayern’s most reliable players over the last season or so, it seems unlikely that they will let his contract expire.
